Evening report

Elliott continues to work toward holding his own. The plan for tonight is to reduce his pain meds and sedation, continue vent weaning baby steps, give some lasix, and continue expressed breast milk feeds through nasal gastric tube.

A fabulous volunteer organization, FirstMemories Texas, came by while Mark was sitting with Elliott and took pictures. A few hours later, they brought us this adorable memory book:

Still doing well

We are so proud of Elliott. He is continuing to improve with fewer and fewer levels of intervention.

Look at his sweet little socks!

Late morning update

Oh my goodness! There is so much space at Elliott's bedside! They moved a lot of equipment out this morning- no more nitric oxide machine, no more cerebral profusion monitoring, no more chest tubes and bubblers! Now we need to get rid of the dialysis apparatus and vent! He tolerated the latest vent wean steps, but they are taking it really slowly. Still no definitive answer for why they left the dialysis catheter in place.

Here are a few pictures of our Elliott:

Slept in- which is easy to do with no windows and a great 5 am report from Nurse L. Talked to nurse at 5am and 10 am. Doing well. Sats in mid 90s. Chest tubes gone. Pacer wires out in a bit. Pd tube still in- need more info on that. Will update after shower and go see him.

What a strong little man!

Our little man brought his O2 sats up on his own without needing the bursts of o2 from the vent! Holding at 94. BP looks good and heart rate still great! He had his eyes open just now, so nana and peapaw just missed seeing his pretty blues! Hoping for a good night with Nurse L!

Post nitric hump

So, about an hour or so after turning off the nitric oxide Elliott's sats dropped to the low 80s. He has been fluctuating between 86 and 94 for the past 45 minutes or so. Dr. L has decided to utilize the 2 minute 100% Fi02 button on the vent to deliver 100% o2 to help him get over this nitric oxide weaning hump. No one seems overtly concerned at this point, so I am trying to manage my stress level accordingly. However, I really like seeing progress and hope Elliott will chug a lug through this without having to step backwards.

He's awake!

Weaned off the nitric, good numbers, and awake!
